Cambridge Operational Hub

PROJECT DESCRIPTION

New Operational Hub

The concept for the Operational Hub and the site where it is located has been informed by the initial analysis in order to develop a proposal which sensitively responds to the opportunities and constraints of the site, and immediate context, as well as longer-term aspirations set out in the emerging North East Cambridge Area Action Plan. The proposal is part of Cambridge City Council’s drive to net zero by 2030, and has focused on the promotion of its ‘One Council’ ethos, mixing operational and office teams.

The proposed scheme will refurbish one of the existing buildings on the site with a new build extension to create a high-quality operational hub for Cambridge City Council. On the ground floor the layout provides entrance area with reception and seating for visitors; training area; store areas; meeting rooms; toilets and changing areas; plant room spaces; shared kitchen; Union office and showers including accessible facilities.

On the First Floor an open plan office for 22 people; meeting & training rooms of different sizes; kitchen and break out area; welfare facilities and a breakout space.

The building location and orientation within the site will allow for adequate daylight and sunlight to the internal common and working areas. The proposed building will be constructed with sympathetic materials of appropriate colour and texture to ensure a high-quality build which is befitting of the site.
